Today’s Verse:
1 Hasten, O God, to save me;
O LORD, come quickly to help me.
2 May those who seek my life
be put to shame and confusion;
may all who desire my ruin
be turned back in disgrace.
3 May those who say to me, "Aha! Aha!"
turn back because of their shame.
4 But may all who seek you
rejoice and be glad in you;
may those who love your salvation always say,
"Let God be exalted!"
5 Yet I am poor and needy;
come quickly to me, O God.
You are my help and my deliverer;
O LORD, do not delay. - Psalm 70
Prayer for Today :
Heavenly Father,
You promise that if we seek You diligently, we'll find You, no matter what our fleshly status was at the time, whether we were in joy, in sadness or in distress.
Father, in Psalm 70, King David expressed His urgency towards getting Your Almighty help. Not only He prayed to You in serenity. We could almost see Him kneeling on the floor, sobbing, begging and pleading, just by reading these lines.
Unlike the attitudes of believers described in Amos 5:16-27. At the time there was not enough food to eat, and they called the farmers to mourn with them. Thus, they suffer together and they mourn together. They became the "professional mourners".
Father, praying is like planting a seed of believe in our hearts and minds. If we prayed to You with faith that You would deliver us, we could be sure that Your deliverance would reach us, one day, in a way or another. Although, it may not in the form of our liking... But if we plant a mourning seed into our hearts and minds, then we'll surely be trapped, just like the israelites, who stayed in the wilderness for forty years...
Father, grant us the wisdom to pray to You repectfully and to wait for Your deliverance patiently.
In Christ's glorious Name we pray, Amen.
