Today’s Verse:
One night the Lord spoke to Paul in a vision: "Do not be afraid; keep on speaking, do not be silent. For I am with you, and no one is going to attack and harm you, because I have many people in this city." Acts 18:9-10
Prayer for Today :
Heavenly Father,
Thankyou for teaching us more about Paul, the apostle, through these bible verses. At the time, Paul was much discouraged by the violent opposition of the Jews and he was having some serious thoughts of ceasing to preach or leaving Corinth. For that reason, the Lord spoke to Paul at night by a vision, commanding him not to be afraid and giving him assurnace that no one in the city could harm him.
Father, sometimes, when we were in distress, we don't need intercessors, pastors or any church ministers to be around us to say brillant prayers or perfect speeches. Father, perhaps, all we want is someone to pat on our heads or someone to say "Be not afraid".
Father, similarly, in 1 Corinthians 2:3, Paul also wrote "I came to you in weakness and fear, and with much trembling." Then the Lord spoke to Paul, in his conscious feebleness, diffident of his own powers, and most frangible moment. Why? God listens, He cares.
In Christ's glorious Name we pray, Amen.
