"and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace." Ephesians 6:15

Prayer for Today :

Heavenly Father,

Equip our feet with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace.

There are always spiritual warfare and suffering going on around us, for this reason, we need You to grant us sufficient strength and courage for everyday life. Father, we are weak, Father, we are always so weak and are so easily be temped to sin. Father, sometimes we feel that we don't deserve You, don't deserve Your grace, Your love, Your forgiveness etc., yet Father, You are always around us, so patiently, You'll listen to us, You'll grant us peace and grace.

Father, the Christian armour is made to be worn; we need to wear it properly so that we may be protected. Father, give us strong faith to resist satan, so that he will flee from us. Father, we must never give way and let him get ground. Father, in order to protect our "ground", therefore, help us to get our legs protected, so that we may stand firm, as we march forward in rugged paths. Father, give us the patience to prepare ourselves by gaining a clear knowledge of the gospel.

Father, let us pray to You always, publicly, privately, secretly, in groups or in solitary. Father, let us confess our sins, petition for mercy and praise You for favours.

"Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a workman who does not need to be ashamed…." – 2 Timothy 2:15

Prayer for Today :

Heavenly Father,

It is true that if we do our best, we need not to be ashamed - Either of unfaithfulness or unskilfulness?

Father, we can faithfully perform our duties, so that when we look over what we have done, we may not ashamed.

Father, we can present to you only our best and our best only. We know that if You assigned us to work at some places, we'll put on our very best to work with our co-workers and our jobs. Father, help us to control our temper and stop being harsh on ourselves, whether on the outcome of the job or the putting the quality burden on to our own shoulders. Father, we can do our best and more than our best with
Christ who supports us, however, do grant us the serenity to accept that the end result may not be the one we expected and that it is "out of our control".

Father, when we honestly have attempted our ultimate best, help us to realise that we are successful already! Thank you for having the confidence in us, and give us the opportunities to attempt "the unachievables".

Prayer for Today :

Heavenly Father,

Life is tough. Life is crazy! Everyday seems to be getting harder to go through and we seem to run into more and more troubles. Our dream list gets shorter and shorter as more and more of them become "impossible to fulfill" and our to-do list gets longer and longer as people around us become more and more demanding.

Father! And this is why we need Sabbath! You made the world into 6 days and You rested on the 7th day. If Father, You needed to rest, so do we?! As He has commanded us to rest for our own good, then we should really make use of the Sabbath to rest in Him and to regain our energy.

Father, other than rest, what should we do on the Sabbath Day? It might be valuable to spend time in fellowship with other believers. It might be valuable to spend time learning and growing in your relationship with You. It might be valuable to spend time to serve at the church!

Father, Thank you for teaching us, as we are all ordinary people without infinite wisdom like You. Sometimes, we are just too "dumb" to spend all our time working and working and working for "the everlasting" and forget about the important people surrounding use, including family, friends and love ones. In Your divine design, Father, You have created us to rest from the daily activities of lives once every week, so Father, help us to find complete REST in You and You alone and be restored physically, spiritually, relationally at the end of every Sabbath day.

Prayer for Today :

Heavenly Father,

Thank you for sending Jesus to teach us how to pray. Sometimes, when we tried to pray, our mind just went blank and didn't know where to start, either our lives are exceptionally smooth or extremely rocky...

The Lord's prayer contains 6 petitions and the last three is related to our own concerns, both temporal and spiritual. Today's verse is an important promise which guides us, to a better future. Father, it is written that "If we forgive our brothers and sisters, You will also forgive us, the way we forgive our brothers and sisters." Father, it also echoed with Jesus' characteristics - He came into the world as the great Peace-maker, not only to reconcile us to God, but to each other as well.

Father, this is the day that You have made, we pray that we will rejoice and be glad in it, today and the days ahead.
Father, we pray that You will renew desires of our souls toward You, so that our spirits, souls and also our bodies are refreshed.
Father, we live on spiritual food as well, for this reason, we cannot go a day without food, as without prayer.

Father, have mercy on us, forgiveness is a very challenging gift, help us to master it, as Jesus did.

Prayer for Today :

Heavenly Father,

Thank you for showing Your grace and care to us through Psalm 23:1-6.

Father, Thank you for giving us Jehovah as our shepherd. Everyday, under His watch, He takes us, his flock of sheep and get us fed over gentle, harmless and verdant pastures. Everyday, He leads us to quiet waters (Fountain of living waters), so that we may get our minds and souls refreshed and never be thirty again. Everyday, He shows us mercy and grace by providing us with abundance. Father, indeed, we
have no lack.

Father, it is inevitable for us to pass through some darkest valleys in our lives. Father, though the valley may denote the most severe and terrible affliction etc., we will not fear because we believe our good shepherd. Father, we could walk through these valleys, through Your glory. Indeed, that we shall not be lost in this valley, but get safe to the mountain on the other side, by his rod and his staff.

It is written in Isaiah 43:2 "When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze." Father, no matter how gloomy today may seemed, allow us to hold on to Your promises each and everyday and may our days be dwelled in Your fruitfulness and joyfulness.

"Therefore, my dear brothers and sisters, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain." - 1 Corinthians 15:58

Prayer for Today :

Heavenly Father,

In Ephesians 4:26-27, apostle Paul said “In your anger do not sin”: Do not let the sun go down while you are still angry, and do not give the devil a foothold." Father, I must say that this is easier said than done. Everyday, there are so many emotions going on in our lives: happy, unhappy, joy, contentment, pleasure, comfort, sad, tragic, joyful, sorry, down, dreadful, hopeless etc. There are at least 50+ words of expressions which started with A!

So, Father, if we cannot control our emotions, then can we learn to rejoice and control our temper? As Paul said in Philippians 4:10-13: "I rejoice greatly in the Lord that at last you have renewed your concern for me. Indeed, you have been concerned, but you had no opportunity to show it. I am not saying this because I am in need, for I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances. I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want. I can do everything through him who gives me strength."

Father, everyday, even in the church holy ground, we punch in the obstacles, not so much in a negative way but in big enough shock and terror. Father, help us to stand firm and grant us the super-natural strength abundantly, so that we may fight against the hardships. Father, Jesus won His battle over death, therefore let us repent our sins so that we may seek for the full assurance of faith and hope, through Him, in our midst of pain, and in our prospect of death!

Father, today we live in the world, which is similar to the metropolis of Corinth, which was a city bound in the devil's darkness of worldly wealth and commerce, paganism and heathen religions, sexual immorality and drunkenness, and the love of human philosophy and wisdom. Father, overflow us with Your fullness, we need You to send Your great love to the world, send Your blessings to the world, send Your kindness to the world, send Your Holy Spirit to safe-guard the people in this world, until the day where there is no sun-rise and no sun-set.

May Christ give us faith, and increase our faith, so that we may feel safe, joyful and triumphant.

Today's Verse:
"And now you will be silent and not able to speak until the day this happens, because you did not believe my words, which will come true at their appointed time.” - Luke 1:20


Heavenly Father,

The famous story about "Jesus Walks on the Water", illustrated how Peter "sinked" into the water as he lost faith toward Jesus. Interesting enough that there was another short but precise story about the same topic "faith". Thankyou Father, for giving us this story of Zechariah (Luke 1).

Zechariah was a man of God, a minister of his day. Together with his wife Elizabeth, they had served God their entire lives. Then one day in his aging years while tending to his duties in the church, the Angel Gabriel came to visit Zacharias abd told him about the coming of his God granted gift, a son called John. But Zachariah had a little trouble believing the unbelievable, so he asked for a SIGN and Gabriel said "You will be mute and not able to speak until the day these things take place, because you did not believe my words..." (Luke 1:20).

Zachariah's story reminds us "not to doubt and unbelief in God's ability to heal or restore us from our broken lives".

Father, sometimes, we are messed up and worsen, we might not even realised that we're messed up! Father, we are only average human in the world, somewhat polluted, if we failed to believe in your promises or your will for us, mute us, like you have muted Zachariah, so that we may learnt our lessons and get back "on to track" and get on the path which you have prepared for us i.e. kick start our better lives from where we have got lost!

Today's Verse:
"But if he remains silent, who can condemn him? If he hides his face, who can see him?" Job 34:29

Heavenly Father,

Everyone needs to be quiet, every now and then.

The term "hide the face" is commonly used in the bible, refering calamity, distress ahernd the lack of spiritual comfort.

Father, everyday, we face problems, big or small...sometimes, we do feel frustrated and angry and other times, hopeless..., what should we do when we want to "hide the face", especially from You? We should pray and persevere.

Father, is that true? If You designs to give us rest, comfort, peace, ease or prosperity in any way, who can intervene? If you intends not to prosecute, who can make trouble? Father, Elihu wants to convey a message here, that You, God, has all things under Your control, and that You are the only one who can bring prosperity or adversity upon an individual or a nation at Your pleasure.

But...is that really so?
Father, You are a merciful God, You will heal us in times of sickness or trouble.
Father, You are God of second chances, You will lead us back to the "right track" if we ran away from You.
Father, You are the Alpha, the Omega, the beginning and the end; You can calm the storm and rain, You can commend the thunder to stop, You can also do all sorts of miracles...But Father, we will not believe what Elihu said, we will never believe that You will "do" things by "Your pleasure", and we will forever hold on to Your promise, Your promise that You have plans for us, plans to prosper us and not to harm us; and that You have our best interest at heart; and that "all things will eventually work together for our good".

Today's Verse:
"So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal." 2 Corinthians 4:18

Heavenly Father,

Are we aiming at the things which are seen - Μη σκοπουντων? 99.9% of us would say YES! Sad isn't it? Those things that can be seen are προσκαιρα, are actually temporary; they are to have a short duration, and must have an end. Take a man/woman for instance, perhaps one may caught by their handsome/beautiful look. But what's next? Our flesh only last for a number of years..., would our souls not worth much more?

Now, look at the things which we make our scope and aim are not seen and they are spiritual, they are αιωνΐα, eternal - things have no end. These things could be God's gifts, such as holiness, happiness, fruitfulness and blessings.

Father, help us not concentrate on the things that are seen - money, fame, beauty, food, etc., these are all earthly matters, which would disappeared one day. Father, Your grace for us is always sufficient, now or in times of trouble. Always!

Father, Christ was dead and is risen. The hope of this resurrection encourages us to let go of the fear of death, for the prospect of eternal life and happiness was our support and comfort.

Let us give diligence to ensure our future are joyful.

"so that it will not be obvious to men that you are fasting, but only to your Father, who is unseen; and your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you." - Matthew 6:18


Heavenly Father,

Religious fasting is a duty required of the disciples of Christ. As for us, fasting is the humbling of the soul.

Why should Christian do fasting?
- Jesus fasted during his forty day period of temptation in the wilderness - Lk 4:1-2
- In Jesus' teaching, He said "when" to fast but not "if" - Mt 6:16-17

Why should Christian fast?
- Health reasons?
- In times of grief or sorrow?
- Gain self control?
- fasting is only to please God and to seek for His Divine presence!


When should Christian fast?
-.whenever we desire God's help
- whenever there's a need to appoint elders or missionaries

How?
Heavenly Father, rules and ways to fast... most of these are made by men. Heavenly Father, we are precious in Your eyes. Heavenly Father, we choose to fast to be closer to You, sometimes. Father, grant us growth in the "Fruit of the Spirit" (Galatians 5:22-23): love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness and temperance, as we be obedient to You.

"For we are co-workers in God’s service; you are God’s field, God’s building." 1 Corinthians 3:9

Heavenly Father,

There's a co-worker of Yours, Joyce Meyer, who said "Are you, or someone you know, going through a difficult time? Has a crisis come your way that threatens to overwhelm you? Could you use some help? Everyday Answers provides wisdom from God’s Word to help deal with life’s difficult issues." She has a section in her blog called "Everyday Answers" which contains a list of very interesting topics and answers.

There are two most difficult problem we face Lord:

1/ Battlefield of the Mind

Father, we are overwhelmed by crisis on a daily basis. This seems to be a "never ending story", because the world is full of problems. It could be us or it could be our love ones who falls into the satan's trap. And these issues could be just big enough to make us feel so frustrated. Father, may You send angels to us, to smoothen our hearts in these times of trouble, may You grant us peace in heart. Father, let us count our blessings and focus on You and You alone when we fall into any satan's trap. Father, remind us once again that You are the ONE and ONLY ONE that is in control. Father, remind us that You are the ONE who has our best interest at heart. Father, as it is written "The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ." (2 Corinthians 10:5), help us to discipline ourselves in Your words each day.


2/ Pleasing People

Father, since birth, we have been trying to please the people around us, at first, our parents and close relatives, then teachers, friends and later, our other-half... Father, we are living in such desperation, to obtain acceptance from others. Father, help us to choose, not our lives in such misery, help us to choose to live in Your love. For father, our hopes, dreams and future are in You and You alone. As Paul said "so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God. (Ephesians 3:17-19)" Let us practice to love one another, as You have loved us.

Today's Verse:
"I am going to send you what my Father has promised; but stay in the city until you have been clothed with power from on high.” Luke 24:49

Heavenly Father,

After death, Jesus rose again and appeared to the disciples in a miraculous manner, assuring them of His peace through the Holy Spirit. Despite the fact that they had forsaken him, He still promised them His spiritual peace and blessings.

Father, do we deserve any of this love and grace You grant us? No, only through the blood of Lord Jesus.

Father, You are God of heaven and earth, You are the light of the world, we are more than Thankful to be able to pray to You everyday, to share with You our problems, worries, happiness, joyfulness and desire. Thankyou Father for promising never to leave us or forsake us.

In return, we don't want to miss our on Your destiny. God, we want to be part of Your mission, Your mission to spread the gospel around the world. We want to be submissive and we want to be able to sacrifice whatever it takes to do just that!

Lord, sometimes we feel that we were so messed up, we were full of guilt and shame, and we were so terribly scared that we would choose to run away from You. Whilst in other times, we just want to confess to You our wrongdoings and let You to wash us clean. We seemed to have no time left to do any missionary work for You Lord... Please Father, next time if You to us "Whom shall I send?", let us response with "Here I am Lord".

Today's Verse:
"As for you, the anointing you received from him remains in you, and you do not need anyone to teach you. But as his anointing teaches you about all things and as that anointing is real, not counterfeit—just as it has taught you, remain in him. " - 1 John 2:27

Heavenly Father,

This is a new day of the Chinese New Year, a new start, a new beginning for us all.

Father, everyday there will be things that happen in our lives, not in our liking. Father, everyday, we will be worried, stressed and impacted by these "things". Father, help us, help us and help us, to focus our hearts and minds in You!

It is written in the gospel of John, Jesus said "You are already clean because of the word I have spoken to you. Remain in me, as I also remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me." John 15:3-4, which means "The truth of Christ, abiding in us, is a means to sever from sin, and unites us to the Son of God".

Therefore, Father, we must look upon You, to seek for Your greatness, power, and goodness. Father, grant us kindness, mercy, forbearance, grace, perseverance...so that we may serve one another, like Jesus Christ, who has served us.

Father, we love You and we cherish everyday You have granted us so far. As we look forward to the days to come, let us remember to count our blessings. Father, although, our lives may be tough right now, we should always rejoice in the Lord. As Glorie Abelhas expressed "Good fortune shies away from gloom. Keep your spirits up. Good things will come to you and you will come to good things."

Today's Verse:
"to be made new in the attitude of your minds" Ephesians 4:23

Heavenly Father,

This is the day the Lord has made, we should rejoice and be glad in it.

Let's look at our attitude today:
Can we start thinking in God's way today? It may feel strange to us at first. It is exactly like putting on new shoes which may not feel comfortable to us immediately, but as time passed by, they may be comfortable. So, let's continue to put on our new thoughts starting from today and practice our thinking in God's way!

Let's say:
(a) Practice to be nice to others - from your heart
(b) Practice to go to church on Sunday
(c) Practice to tithe to God
(d) Practice to speak the truth
(e) Practice to praise God


Heavenly Father, we want to want with You and walk in Your shoes. We want to be as perfect as Jesus, well, at least, kind and compassionate. God, help us to practice to kindness and change our attitude a tiny bit everyday. May we serve as an aid towards extending Your boundaries.

"Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth." – Matthew 5:5


Heavenly Father,

It is easy to loose our temper when we're being pushed, threatened, or mistreated. If we can only remember to be "MEEK", then things will definitely be changed by God's grace and mercy:

M—Mighty strength to help others
E—Emotion balanced, in control of own feelings even through ups and downs
E—Educable, willingness to learn
K—Kind, willingness to forgive and forget

Father, it is easy to hold our angry towards someone or something, but if we do that, who is the ultimate sufferer? Father, help us to practice "forgive and forget", help us to remember Your grace is greater and wider. Father, for we know that we should and we could never seek our "revenge" or "return" from the person or the thing we are angry about, but God, You have promised that for any injustice we faced because of You, You will return us "Double". So Father, help us to focus on You, humble and open ourselves to Your uncountable blessings!

Today's Verse:
Hearing this, Jesus said to Jairus, “Don’t be afraid; just believe, and she will be healed.” - Luke 8:50


Heavenly Father,

Today's verse is about a man named Jairus. The parable described the event of Jesus, performing the miracles of raising from the dead of Jairus, and the healing of the woman with the some kind of gynecological disease. This was the second instance of the Lord raising the dead.

What does the future hold?

We all have dreams, we all have something that we want from our lives. Maybe we want a companion, maybe we want fame, love, joy, peace, health, wealth, friendship, youth, trust, protection, passion, richness and so many more... But ultimately, what do we actually need? There's a chinese saying: However rich you are, you only need to 3 * 6 Ft to sleep at night. Isn't that true?

We may have lots of assets. So? Can we exchange that for a decendant? Can we exchange that for God's blessings?

Father, we surrender all our problems and worries to You today. We cast all our financial, physical and spiritual needs to Your Divine love and care. Let love flows into our lives. Let money flows into our lives. Let peace flows into our lives.

Father, release us from sinful thoughts, release us from our worries of "tomorrows". Father, Jesus can raise the dead, You can surely raise us and bless our lives with abundance.

Today's Verse:
"In the morning, LORD, you hear my voice; in the morning I lay my requests before you and wait expectantly. " Psalm 5:3

Heavenly Father,

There's this song sang by Cat Stevens "Morning has broken, like the first morning, Blackbird has spoken, like the first bird, Praise for the singing, praise for the morning, Praise for the springing fresh from the word."

Father, isn't this encouraging? The message is so simple, just image that everyday is a new day, a fresh day. That we don't need to think about what's passed, that we only need to focus in that very moment when we woke up. Yes, Father, that we may wake up every morning expectedly, to receive Your grace and blessings. Yes, Father, that we may wake up every morning to say praise and worship to You. Yes, Father, that we may wake up every morning to find the path You have ready for us, to enjoy, to love, to meet new people, to cherish the people we already know and to help the ones that are in need.

Father, Thank you for giving us brand-new hope everyday, as sure as the sun rises up from the east.

Today's Verse:
"You are my King and my God, who decrees victories for Jacob." Psalm 44:4

Heavenly Father,

"Thou art my King, O God."
Who is our King? To whom should we put our trust and faith in, other than our King?

From Jacob's long life, we know that it was crowded with trials and deliverances. So, our life maybe full of trials right now, but through his story, Father, that we can be sure that You will deliver us, one day. Perhaps, Father, You can send Your blessings to us right now and through preserverance, let us wait for our rescue to come?

Father, the many victories Israel obtained, were not by their own strength or merit, but by Your favour and grace.

Father, let's keep our eyes on You and You alone, despite the life storm around us and the turnmoil that we're in. Father, let us have faith in You, believe that You are just and merciful God, who loves us and who will reward us for all the good deeds we have done, in Your timing.
