Today’s Verse:
"Elijah was a man just like us. He prayed earnestly that it would not rain, and it did not rain on the land for three and a half years. Again he prayed, and the heavens gave rain, and the earth produced its crops." - James 5:17-18
Prayer for Today :
Heavenly Father,
Elijah was a distinguished prophet. His prayers were being heard by You, Father. It is written "Elijah was a man just like us.", hence, Father, You will also listen to our prayers, right?
But Father, will You answer our prayers, just like You have answered Elijah? In Elijah's case, through his earnestly prayers, Father, You listened and You answered to them, for You made the rain stopped and fell as wished. Surely, if You love us and care about our future, You'll too, answer our prayers in a shift second, right?!
Father, we should remember to what Jesus said when he was tempted in the desert by the devil. It said to Jesus "If you are the Son of God, tell these stones to become bread." Jesus answered, "It is written: 'Man does not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God."
Father, You will not answer the prayers according to the merit of man, but You will answer the prayers according to Your grace. It is not enough to say merely just one prayer, but we must say it with meaning, with compassion, with faith. Just like Elijah, this instance of the power in a prayer, really should encourage every Christian to be earnest in their prayers.
God, You says You will never leave us or forsake us. Although we may not see our miracles in You, answering our prayers today, yet we will not give up, but continue to pray our prayers fervantly, so that one day, we may see Your grace and mercy upon us.
In Christ's glorious Name we pray, Amen.
