Today’s Verse:
"Then Jacob continued on his journey and came to the land of the eastern peoples." Genesis 29:1
Prayer for Today :
Heavenly Father,
Aren't You also amazed by the internet search engines? This morning I came across a term《生命讚禮》(in Chinese), then I tried to look for the English translation and I was led to a term "Cirque du Soleil". Furthermore, I was led to a movie, an album, a Canadian entertainment company, self-described as a "dramatic mix of circus arts and street entertainment." and a International Circus center!
"What Goes Around Comes Around!"
Today's verse is about Jacob, who got married with 2 sisters (Genesis 29).
- "There he saw a well in the open country, with three flocks of sheep lying near it because the flocks were watered from that well." (Verse 2)
- "While he was still talking with them, Rachel came with her father’s sheep, for she was a shepherd." (Verse 9)
- "But when evening came, he took his daughter Leah and brought her to Jacob" (Verse 22)
Jacob tricked his father and receieved his blessings. Then he was forced to flee for his life. Then he came around and met Rachel. He worked for her dad for seven years and got Leah as his wife instead...
Father, sometimes, life seemed to have turned out NOT the way we would have liked it to be. We have lots of "wants" and "needs", but there're always some wants and needs unfulfilled. Father, help us to "let go" to the desire of our flesh and concentrate on You and You alone. Father, before we ask You "Why?" and started "our screaming and yelling" session with You, help us to be still in You for a moment. In this moment, Father, help us to count our blessings, help us to appreciate the people You put around us, help us to feel Your "wants and needs", for us to change for the "better".
Father, sometimes, it really takes some illnesses or tread on the toes, for us to realise that You love us and You do care about us. Father, sometimes, it really takes some blunt or demerit words for us to "wake up" and started paying attentions to our behaviours or habits...
Father, help us to appreciate life and love ourselves.
In Christ's glorious Name we pray, Amen.
