Today’s Verse:
Then Jesus said to Thomas, "Put your finger here; see my hands. Reach out your hand and put it into my side. Stop doubting and believe." Thomas said to him, "My Lord and my God!" Then Jesus told him, "Because you have seen me, you have believed; blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed." - John 20:27-29
Prayer for Today :
Dear Heavenly Father,
How often do we hear these great miracles, signs and wonders performed by false Messiahs, false prophets, and false apostles? Lord, these so-called political and religious leaders seduce us with their sweet tooth and polished speeches! Lord, help us to stand firm and resist these satan's baits, help us to be strong in You and stay away from these spiritual deceptions!
Jesus said "My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me.". Indeed! Father, we know You by our life experiences, by our knowledge in Your words and by our familiarity with Your followers. Father, we felt fastrated, angry, loose-hearted, disappointed, let down and puzzled when we didn't see "our wishes being granted", but, is this really a valid reason for us to leave You and go to other "gods"? Is this really a valid reason for us to sell our soul in exchange of fame, fortune or health?
Father, in the past, we tried to trust You with all our hearts and all our souls, but so often, we failed to do so, just like Thomas, who doubted Your powers. Father, refresh us today and make us new. Father, grant us courage to study Your words everyday. Father, grant us the wisdom to distinguish between the truth and deception. Father, grant us the faith to hold on to You when catastrophes hit us. Father, bless us, because we have not seen but have believed.
Grant this through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen
